Shift: Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, 1 hour lunch

Location: Ideally this position is placed in our Jericho NY office headquarters, but we are open to other locations for internal employees interested in transitioning. 

 

Overview

Under the direction of the Cash & Credit Supervisor, the Cash Application Specialist will be responsible for performing cash applications functions. This is a highly productive team with a heavy workload due to data and volume.  Familiarity with a heavy workload and fast pace work is preferred.  

 

In Order To Be Considered

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel; must have experience performing pivot tables and V-look up
  • Heavy Cash application experience
  • Working with banks
  • Credit card processing experience
  • Must be able to prioritize effectively, multi-task, detailed oriented manage daily workload and complete tasks on time with minimal to no errors.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize throughout the day

 

Job Functions

  • Post all cash and wires that have status of un-applied, on-account or partially applied daily
  • Post cash and wire transfers received from parent company
  • Document short pay reasons and enter issue into collection notes application
  • Process offsets and refunds with proper approvals
  • Manage organized filing of all reports and scan daily posting batches
  • Run daily bank and related lock box reports
  • Balance Purolator’s system reports to daily bank reports
  • Maintain cash application metrics report
  • Research missing checks that have not been applied to customer accounts
  • Respond to all field requests for check copies, wire remittance, balance issues etc.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Run and manipulate reports as required
  • Credit Card processing
  • Month end close
  • Assist others as required

 

Experience and Requirements

  • Associates Degree or equivalent work experience  
  • 2- 5 years’ relevant experience performing cash applications
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills; must have experience performing pivot tables and V-look up
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced work environment required 
  • Ability to engage in creative problem solving and effectively adaptability to changes in processes and methodologies
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Freight forwarding experience a plus 

 

Working conditions under which the job is performed include, but are not limited to concentrated visual or auditory attention, repetitive movements (i.e. typing, data entry, answering phone), heavy volume of paperwork, extensive sitting during work hours.
