The Communications Specialist will help develop and execute on communication plans to support Purolator International. Duties will include the development and administration of the employee intranet, newsletter, video channel, Digital communication, and other communications channels. This position will build relationships across all levels of the business and proactively recommend new approaches for motivational, targeted communications that build alignment to company strategy as well as employee engagement.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and maintain communications vehicles aligned with corporate messaging that helps to build internal awareness and elevate the corporate brand
  • Support various groups within the organization in the design and delivery of internal communications activities, presentations, and intranet content
  • Proofreading and editing
  • Evaluation, measurement, and analysis of all channels
  • Produce written and design elements for internal communications channels, including:
    • Weekly newsletter: content collection, formatting, and distribution
    • Intranet: development and maintenance of employee intranet
    • Company Events: administration of company town halls, leadership calls, webinars, annual leadership conference, and other internal meetings/events
    • General Correspondence: assist in development/distribution of company announcements
    • Video: help to storyboard and film video content
  • Manage the ongoing development of written internal web content to a high standard ensuring that a consistent style and voice is maintained throughout the site
  • Assist in the development of communications vehicles (with an emphasis of online content) that is aligned with corporate messaging and the brand framework – helping to build internal awareness and elevate the corporate brand
  • Create content for social media channels; use our social media online management tool to post content to company’s LinkedIn and Facebook pages.   Also post to CEO’S profile on LinkedIn
  • Work with the Communications team to develop content and activities, both internally and externally, that engages and relays relevant corporate information
  • Assist Training and Development lead to develop and administer of company training programs.  Assist T&D team in coordinating and organization Corporate new hire orientation 
  • Duties could include training logistics, communications, learning management system (LMS) maintenance, and on-site program administration
  • Occasional travel for training and corporate events (1x a quarter)
  • Carry out other duties as appropriate and as assigned by his/her Manager

 

Ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications:

  • Strong command of the English language, including the ability to write and articulate messages in concise, accurate and jargon-free prose.
  • Working knowledge of website design relating to user experience, content management and SEO.
  • Able to learn a digital content management system and be able to manage content on a daily basis. Knowledge of the Orchestra website content management system is even more desirable.
  • Working knowledge of using video to produce engaging content preferred.
  • Knowledge of and interest in current corporate communication practices, including best practices for newsletters, intranet, social media, live events, and other channels.
  • A comfort level with learning new applications that aid and automate corporate communications.
  • Superb organizational and time-management skills, including prioritizing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
  • Comfort level with learning new applications that aid and automate corporate communications.
  • Sense of ownership and pride in completing projects accurately and on time.
  • Professional demeanor and attitude (being on time, being positive, etc.) as part of corporate teams representing the company.

 

Education, Training and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Communications-related major. Will also consider degrees in organizational development.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a communications- or training-related field.
  • Must have experience in a Windows environment with high proficiency in MS Office
  • Experience managing social media content and channels a plus
  • Working knowledge of the Adobe suite of products (specifically InDesign, Acrobat and Photoshop).
  • Graphic design and/or basic html expertise a plus.
