This role oversees Purolator International Internal (Employee) Communications along with supporting external communications and PR through collaboration with Corp Communications and external PR agency. This position will apply strategic thinking to prepare and anticipate emerging employee and project team needs; see the big picture to manage multiple projects; identify communications trends and new ways to recognize company products and people to build the internal Purolator brand; determine project urgency in a meaningful and practical way; use goals to guide actions and create detailed action plans; organize and schedule people and tasks. Also works in collaborative groups across Purolator enterprise for special projects and/or crisis communications (for example, Return to Workplace planning).


Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for day-to-day oversight of communications specialist, ensuring accurate and consistent workflow as well as skills development opportunities and career growth.
  • Also ensuring collaborative approach for larger team projects, in close coordination with Purolator, Inc
  • Provides internal communications guidance and execution on strategic communications messaging
  • Topical areas stretch across functions including Human Resources/Organizational Development, Finance, Operations, and other divisions
  • Works across the company with support from subject matter experts at PI and Puro, Inc. and also works with vendors as needed
  • Provides strategic advice and assistance to draft/edit and distribute corporate messages from division head and members of executive leadership team across the organization.
  • Supports external communication through collaborating with corporate communication and external PR agency to support creation of media opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with Corp communications to identify trends and new ways to recognize company products and people to build the internal and external Purolator brand
  • Leads critical Leadership communications programs from development to execution/leading the discussion such as leadership meetings
  • Also ensuring collaborative approach for larger team projects, in close coordination with Purolator, Inc


Ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications:

  • Significantly strong technical; functional fluency with content management systems for both communications and training, including and Learning Management System
  • Knowledge of basic html for internal intranet maintenance
  • Proficiency with Office 365 Suite and MS Teams video platform
  • Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop to format images, understanding of video production and editing techniques
  • Superior writing, editing and proofreading skills; familiarity with Associated Press style is a requirement


Education, Training and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Graduate Degree preferred) in a communications-related field (Communications, Journalism, Marketing) or in Organizational Development
  • At least 5 years leading communications or organizational development/training in a global, fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
  • Experience developing and implementing strategic communication plans that are aligned with the organization’s goals
  • Experience adapting various writing and presentation styles to different formats and venues
  • Experience managing a variety of projects with an internal communication focus.
  • Experience working as the lead resource for project teams
  • Experience in change management, especially regarding organizational changes
  • Experience leading others, including everyday oversight and longer-term performance management and career development
  • Experience working with Executive level individuals to assist in developing relevant communication
  • Experience working with an International Communications team to ensure consistency in all levels of communications
