Job Summary:

The Learning and Development Strategist will provide consulting services to client groups for training and non-training solutions in accordance with business requirements. This position will design/develop training products and activities aligned with corporate objectives and functional business needs. The Learning and Development Strategist will also act as an expert for learning and development needs across the Purolator International organization.


Experience Required in Order To Be Considered:

  • 3+ years’ experience developing training curriculum, as well as facilitation experience.
  • Managing daily workload with little supervision; exceptional organizational skills
  • Processing information through focused listening, writing, or visual attention
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize a multitude of time sensitive tasks.


Education and/ or Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Design, Training, Human Resources, or similar field. Certification in Training Management (CPTM) could substitute for degree.
  • Intermediate level skills with MS Office Applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.


Job Function:

  • Oversee and manage all activities around design and development projects to ensure results and meets customer expectations
  • Client consultation on learning and development needs and development of strategies aligned with organization and functional priorities and goals
  • Partner with other groups that develop L&D to ensure consistency in learning approach and training standards met
  • Conduct detailed needs analysis and develop recommendations and plans
  • Work in partnership with stakeholders to design strategies that respond to the customer's need and receive approval
  • Ensure all training products have a built-in measurement mechanism to evaluate their effectiveness
  • Maintain close contact with training facilitators to monitor impact and receive timely feedback on effectiveness of programs
  • Continuously improve on existing learning programs through updating and redesign
  • Build a roster of vendors (consultants, training and facilitation, institutions) and manage relationships
  • Co-responsible for department's budget setting, accruals and reconciliation
  • Support the development and implementation of processes and systems for the team
  • Promote understanding of L&D and consult on L&D policies and procedures as required
  • Carry out other duties as appropriate and as assigned by his/her Manager

  • Prioritize workload; Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal) and demonstrated ability to work with all levels of an organization
  • Ability to anticipate what is necessary to successfully accomplish goals/objectives of management
  • Attention to detail and strong follow up skills
  • Proven ability to manage projects to a timely completion and meeting stated objective
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision


Working conditions under which the job is performed include concentrated visual or auditory attention, travel to local work and/or customer locations (advanced notice provided), repetitive movements (i.e. typing, data entry), high volume telephone activity, extensive sitting during work hours.
