Shift:
Monday – Friday: 8:30 am – 5:00 pm EST

 

Location: This opportunity is remote **Ideally we are looking for candidates that can work out of our Headquarters office in Jericho, NY. We are also open to this positions being located in one of our district offices in Detroit MI, Chicago IL, Atlanta GA, and Philadelphia PA.   Depending on the location of the candidate, this position may be remote, or may be domiciled within one of our offices within the United States. 

 

Job Summary

The primary focus of the Specialist is to provide tactical support to the Sr. Manager, Transportation (Purchased) within the Trans Network Control Department.  Providing cost effective Ground & Air transportation solutions to our customers & the organization.  The main objective of this role is to consistently strive to exceed our customer’s service requirements.

 

Previous Experience Required:

  • 5+ years’ experience in logistics and transportation (both ground and air)
  • Robust experience analyzing new business opportunities and existing reports and data extracts to identify cost and/or service improvement opportunities
  • Experience developing solutions to complex issues
  • Experience with cross-border and intra US transportation

 

Job Function:

  • Vet and source new potential partner carriers
  • Vet and source new pickup and delivery agents that are TSA compliant
  • Negotiate rates and contractual terms with vendors
  • Identify new lanes/pickups to support our customer needs throughout the US and Canada
  • Work closely with the Pricing team to create most cost effective solution that meets the customers service requirements
  • Coordinate with Sales & Pricing departments for new account acquisition
  • Update and maintain our internal Transportation Management system with rates and address changes
  • Manage existing & new relationships with various motor carriers and air charter providers
  • Ensure cost effective execution of our Air transportation network
  • Coordinate carrier change calls
  • Become the main liaison between carriers and PI
  • Coordinate partner carrier on boarding calls
  • Manage vendor contracts and compliance with insurance coverage requirements. Including TSA updated documentation as needed
  • Work with our legal team to ensure all vendor contracts are input to our vendor compliance database
  • Manage the competitive bid process and report on changes in purchased transportation expense line
  • Timely analysis of new business opportunities which leverages the existing transportation network when possible. 
  • Analyze existing reports and data extracts to identify cost and / or service improvement opportunities
  • Utilize existing technology to develop tools which aid in the process of data analysis
  • Work with Dispatch department on problem resolution. (Service issues, Rates, ETC..)
  • Collaboration with sales, freight payment, dispatch, customer service, and field operations teams as required
  • Carry out other duties as appropriate and as assigned by his/her Manager

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:

  • Excel - Beginner to Intermediate (Pivot Tables, Filtering, Formulas)
  • Transportation Management System experience
  • Experience required to effectively coordinate and lead meetings using MS Teams and Zoom to host 10 – 15 carrier calls per month
  • Excels in a fast paced, team environment which compliments initiative and desire to strive for excellence
  • Demonstrated ability using MS OFFICE, (EXCEL, WORD, POWERPOINT)
  • MS ACCESS skills would be considered an asset
  • Cross border and Intra U.S transportation knowledge, preferred
  • Experience working with ERP systems

 

Working Conditions: Under which the job is performed include, but are not limited to concentrated visual or auditory attention, repetitive movements (i.e. typing, data entry), high volume telephone activity, extensive sitting during work hours 

 

Shift:
Monday – Friday: 12:00 pm – 8:30 pm EST *to support West Coast, TSD and support Air Direct.

**After initial 12 months of onboarding the hours will change to 8:30 am – 5:00 pm EST
