Description
The Operations Systems Technologist supports the deployment, maintenance, and continuous improvement of operational technologies that drive revenue, visibility, and operational performance. Working closely with internal teams and external vendors, this role helps ensure reliable system performance, strong data integrity, and minimal disruption to operations.
Key Accountabilities
- Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on operations technologies and equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, software, and network issues to minimize downtime and restore performance.
- Support the deployment, installation, and commissioning of new technologies, devices, and automation systems.
- Monitor system performance, including uptime and capture rates, and develop reports to identify gaps and improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal technology teams and vendors on upgrades, implementations, and issue resolution.
- Contribute to projects across the Operations Systems portfolio, supporting standardization and continuous improvement across sites.
Qualifications
- Strong communication, innovation, change management, relationship-building, and leadership skills.
- Excellent analytical, technical, and problem-solving abilities, with experience troubleshooting and maintaining technical systems.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends.
- Ability to travel primarily within Northern Alberta.
- Physical capability to lift heavy objects.
- A valid driver's license is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in engineering, electronics, technology, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent technical experience.
- Experience in transportation, logistics, or express parcel operations, including mobility and scanning technologies.
Working Conditions
- Office and warehouse environments.
- Regular travel within the assigned region.
Language Requirement: Proficiency in English is required for this position due to the frequent communications that must be conducted in English with various stakeholders. This requirement is justified by the nature of the responsibilities and operational needs.
