Job Description

The Access Control Security Guard is the first point of contact for a visitor/contractor or other people (s) attending the site and will be responsible for the protection of corporate and customer assets, including employees, buildings, products, and vehicles through sound practices, policies, and procedures at all GTA LPP access points (pedestrian/vehicle). The security specialist will be consistently patrolling the facility and observing any security or health and safety issues to address and correct immediately. This is a uniformed position.


  • Access control functions (operate X-Ray machine, Secondary Screening (Wanding), Control of inbound/outbound vehicles – contractors/visitors.
  • Daily checks of the security equipment (X-Rays, metal detectors, wands, computers, etc.) to ensure they are ready to use and in good condition
  • Daily audits of Control Room Coordinators and facility regarding security compliance and adherence to rules and policies
  • Conduct audits as required to ensure Company Security Policies and Procedures are being adhered to and confirm compliance.
  • Report and present on security deficiencies and make recommendations for corrections.
  • Partner and communicate regularly with Operations and Terminal Management teams to build trust and support.
  • Enforcement of Company rules and regulations.
  • May exchange technical advice/guidance with customers to help clarify requirements Report Writing, alarm response, foot patrols of the facility, training and overseeing 3rd party guards
  • Reacts/responds to request from customer, where some discussion with the customer is necessary to determine which product/service or information is required
  • Use of expensive security screening equipment, automated gates, CCTV, and some use of company vehicles – namely Hub Patrol marked security vehicles.
  • Reporting escalation to appropriate persons for follow-up.


  • Closed Circuit Television Systems operations knowledge
  • Security Screening knowledge (X-Ray, Metal Detector, Security Detection Wand) is considered an asset
  • Case management software
  • Security system technology
  • 2 years minimum experience is required
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications
  • Mandatory Provincial Security License (Differs Provincially)
  • Diploma in Law & Security course or related education
  • Certificated Protection Professional (CPP) are an asset
  • Use of Force, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training considered an asset
  • Valid First Aid and CPR
  • Ability to mentor, train and give recommendations for improvement along with feedback.
  • Direct security experience in a role for over 1-year full-time. Preferred if working in a facility security screening position with a recognized company
  • Concentration on precision work, report writing, multiple demands, extended periods of driving, limited counseling, training, instruction.
  • Visual and/or listening attention with some choice of action
  • Must always act with integrity
  • Must be empathetic and display an elevated level of confidence
  • Excellent communication skills and broad knowledge of security procedures to complete daily tasks and training/coaching 3rd party guards are required.
