Job Description

Reporting to the Director National Fleet, the Manager, Fleet Reliability & Quality will lead the warranty recovery, replacement parts and Fleet Maintenance analytics area for consistent process improvement and unit cost reduction.  Reporting to this position will be the Fleet quality specialist, Fleet national parts manager and Warranty recovery.  The fleet, warranty, parts and maintenance processes and procedures will be the key focus areas to improve / reduce fleet on-road breakdowns and rework.  Implementation and development of Predictive maintenance practices and standards will also be key in lean six sigma practices on PM (Preventive Maintenance inspections) to improve fleet reliability and help reduce unit cost per km expenses.  This is to be accomplished with co-operative team involvement of the fleet maintenance RFMs (Regional Fleet Managers) and their respective teams. 


Specifically, the successful candidate will have the following key accountabilities:

  • Identify, evaluate, configure and own the future enhancements of the CMMS (WFA) system. This includes advanced reporting and system administration along with data accuracy as it relates to the Fleet vehicle spec’s and related maintenance practices.  Ensure we have accurate and reliable data entry by both the internal techs and external service providers. This position will have responsibility for the relationship with Cetaris (WFA Provider) current Fleet CMMS system.
  • Support the  Maintenance to our fleet - Life Cycle Asset Management (cradle to grave) program for the Fleet
  • Support the Fleet Engineer on data analysis for component and vehicle spec’ing on future Purolator fleet models to improve component life and lifecycle cost.
  • Assist in business case development on Future sustainable “Green” vehicles.  
  • Assist in developing Lower  year over year GHG targets for the fleet
  •  Develop and Implement a Reliability Centric Maintenance Platform, directing maintenance activities including the application of uniform standards and specifications, in compliance with regulatory requirements. This includes conducting regular Fleet Maintenance Assessments, both with internal shops and external suppliers, ensuring we comply with Provincial Vehicle Safety and emission standards.
  • Identify and manage asset reliability and safety risks that could adversely affect our operations and service levels.
  • Develop and conduct a system for periodic review of maintenance and engineering work, with focus on compliance to safety standards, engineering standards, regulatory and compliance standards, liaison with corporate health and safety to roll out and implement the quality program across the business operations
  • Aid in the development of new process design to improve internal shop efficiencies, reduce waste, and lower costs;
  • Provides technical support to business operations, maintenance management and technical personnel through analytical data.
  • Works with Maintenance team, operations and various OEMs to perform analyses of and including: Asset utilization, driver use and ergonomics, life cycle cost and verify / recommend end of life of the individual fleet asset types.
  • Interacts with operations and Fleet RFMs  through route and vehicle analytics  to recommend / source “the right vehicle for the right route”


The successful candidate will have the following demonstrated experience, knowledge and abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing or equivalent). Combined with relevant Fleet maintenance experience. Would be an asset.
  • Relevant work experience  of 5+ years in a progressive reliability-centered environment
  • Proficient with general MS Office software;
  • General health and safety knowledge (Ontario OHSA, ESA, CSA, ULC, etc.),  National Safety Code Standard 11  on Periodic Fleet Maintenance / Safety inspections
  • Proficient in some, if not all, of the following:
    • PHA - Preliminary hazards analysis
    • FMEA - Failure modes and effects analysis
    • CA - Criticality analysis
    • SFMEA - Simplified failure modes and effects analysis
    • MI - Maintainability information
    • FTA - Fault tree analysis
    • ETA - Event tree analysis
  • Ability to solve complex problems under dynamic working environment;
  • Ability to provide training/project coaching, build excellence in teams, and motivate others to achieve results;
  • Strong analytical skills with a proven history in solving complex problems, business, analytical, information system, and computer skills.
  • Strong speaking ,presentation &  listening skills to explain instructions to various levels in the business;
  • Ability to listen to team members and customers to fully grasp ideas and problems the first time and solicit feedback.
  • Proficient writing skills to prepare documentation for review and future reference


Location: 1151 Martingrove Road, Etobicoke with 25% travel to Head Office, Purolator terminals / shops and external service providers.

Working Conditions: Office Environment, Purolator Fleet garages, Operating Facilities, Service Vendors / OEM factory locations
