Description
Responsibilities of the National Transportation Planner include but are not limited to:
- Maintains and conducts National Network Master Data readiness using forecasted reports to optimize Purolator’s Network Accuracy to adjust trips based on fluctuations of daily volume
- Responsible for all Holiday Planning activities for internal and external parties in the Transportation Network
- Provides support for driver run coverage when required
- Supports onboarding and maintains relationships with our external ground linehaul vendors
- Provide Domestic FTL coverage for all national requirements for our TL customers
- Ground Linehaul RFP support throughout full process
- Responsible to prepare and lead all Purolator peak season linehaul scheduled requirements
- Responsible for transportation budgetary requirements
- Coordinate Protect from Freezing activities with operational terminals and external carriers
- Implement and execute cost savings opportunities for Purolator’s Linehaul network
- Define and implement winter recovery and bypass plans
- National disaster recovery plans when necessary
- Responsible for improving and maintaining all Network Planning KPIs including Trailer Utilization, On-Time Departure, On-Time Arrival, ECHO Compliance and Carrier Check-In trends by creating and presenting a performance plan based on schedule/cost analysis improvements
- Pursue alternative greenhouse emission efficiencies to improve environmental impact
- Evaluates the legality of current and proposed transit infrastructure
- Coordinate, communicate, and support the implementation of engineering and network planning projects that improve industry innovation
- Review and assess impact to schedules that are long term linehaul detour plans due to construction, unexpected events, traffic impacts and weather conditions
- Increase capacity within the E-Commerce landscape, facilitating integration into the Purolator linehaul network
- Expand and arrange the use of Long Combination Vehicle (LCVs) for improved efficiency and productivity in the Purolator network
- Demonstrate ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional organization and time management to prioritize tasks accordingly
- Able to work and plan independently with little supervision
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Occasional travel to other Purolator locations may be required
Experience
- Completion of a University program in transportation engineering or planning, business administration, or any combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
- Minimum seven (7) years of experience within Transportation, logistics and/or supply chain industry that demonstrates knowledge of analytical and independent thinking with presentation and communication skills
Language Requirement: Proficiency in English is required for this position due to the frequent communications that must be conducted in English with various stakeholders. This requirement is justified by the nature of the responsibilities and operational needs.
