Description

The Lead Loss Prevention Professional supports daily security operations by guiding and coaching on-site team members, ensuring consistent execution of responsibilities and adherence to safety standards. This role monitors the condition and readiness of all equipment and tools, maintains clean and hazard-free work areas, and helps address safety concerns promptly. The Lead assists in maintaining Site Specific Standing Orders, delivers training and support to staff, and communicates updates to policies and procedures. They help identify, resolve, or escalate security and personnel risks, respond to Loss Prevention Incident Reports (LPIR), and ensure appropriate follow-up. Working closely with Operations, the Lead helps align security efforts with customer needs, completes Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports to track compliance and quality, and oversees employee screening and vehicle checkpoint activities. In addition to these responsibilities, the Lead performs site security duties and serves as a point of contact for operational coordination and incident response.

This is a mobile role that involves traveling between multiple Purolator locations across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) throughout the shift. The position requires a willingness to perform foot patrols, often outdoors and in varying conditions, including nighttime hours and cold weather. Shifts are rotational and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, with work environments ranging from busy distribution centers to outdoor checkpoints.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • 1–3 years of security-related experience in roles such as Loss Prevention, site security, or mobile patrol, demonstrating a solid understanding of safety protocols and incident response.

  • Leadership or supervisory experience is considered an asset, particularly in guiding peers, coordinating shift activities, or supporting team performance in high-pressure environments.

  • Recognized security certifications such as Certified Protection Officer (CPO) or Certified Security Supervisor (CSS) are advantageous and reflect a commitment to professional development.

  • Strong de-escalation skills, with the ability to manage and defuse potentially volatile workplace situations using calm, respectful, and safety-focused approaches.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to document incidents clearly, relay critical information effectively, and engage professionally with clients, team members, and the public.

  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making abilities, especially in dynamic or high-stakes environments requiring sound judgment and quick thinking.

  • Demonstrated integrity and professionalism, with a strong commitment to ethical conduct, confidentiality, and accountability.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook), with the ability to complete reports, track performance metrics, and communicate digitally.

  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Trespass to Property Act and Powers of Arrest, with the ability to apply them appropriately in day-to-day operations.

  • Valid Ontario Security Guard License in good standing, required for all candidates.

  • Valid Ontario G Class Driver’s License, with a clean driving record and comfort operating a vehicle throughout the shift.

  • Willingness and availability to work rotational shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by site coverage needs.

  • Mobile position requiring travel between multiple sites, often within the same day, necessitating flexibility, time management, and adaptability to different environments.
