Job Description

 

Reporting to the Hub Manager, the Sort Manager, Safety Compliance will work in collaboration with managers and employees with a primary focus on Health and Safety, specifically Jam Awareness Initiatives. The successful candidate will have the following key responsibilities and accountabilities: 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Create a positive work environment that promotes positive employee engagement,  collaboration and cooperation amongst teams.
  • Drive interdependent safety culture and adherence to safety policies within the Hub, ensuring high quality and low risk.
  • Lead a cross-functional team (Jam Specialists) to establish standards and ensure that potential hazards are identified, understood and controlled.
  • Deliver necessary training and coaching to enable employees to meet performance expectations.
  • Manage the necessary audit of equipment, system layouts and training related to Jams to  ensure the safety of our people and the operations.
  • Continuously identify and drive opportunities for improvements within the Hub, utilizing lean principles and methodology
  • Responsible for achieving objectives as outlined in the operational scorecard.
  • Responsible for communicating and implementing policy, procedure or programs.
  • Improvement of operational standards through reviews of employee performance, coaching, counseling and recognition.
  • Conduct injury and accident investigations and necessary follow ups, and implement necessary corrective measures.
  • All other related and assigned duties.

 

Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary Education
  • Experience working in a fast paced warehouse environment (minimum two years’ experience).
  • Experience managing unionized and non-unionized employees.
  • Experience in driving a safety conscious environment.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills. Ability to root cause analyze incident data and trends.
  • Exemplifies and consistently demonstrates our core competencies of communication, innovation, change management, relationship building and leadership.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).

Hours of Work:         Flexible- Must be available to work late afternoons and early mornings as required.  
Working Conditions: Office Environment; Warehouse Environment
