Scheduled Shift: Sunday to Thursday 7:00AM - 3:30PM
Working Hours: 40 Hours
Description
The Non-Licensed Tradesperson (Apprentice) you will support in the installation, maintenance, repair, and dismantling of machineries in Purolator's National Hub terminal.
Responsibilities
- Performing maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and testing of Parcel Sortation Systems and their associated components.
- Provide accurate and timely written reports of safety, operational, and maintenance activities.
- Performing non-structural welding work
- General cleanup of work areas
- All other duties as assigned
Additional Responsibilities
Education
- Proven Mechanical knowledge, with minimum 2 years' experience in maintaining material handling equipment or industrial machinery.
- Enrolled in Apprenticeship Program as a 1st or 2nd year apprentice with Skilled Trades Ontario or the Ministry of training, College, and Universities.
- Enrolled in 1st and 2nd year Millwrights techniques course as well.
- Must pass a Written and Practical Test to be considered. Must be eligible to register as a millwright apprentice with Ministry labour and skill development.
Experience
- Mechanical troubleshooting skills including but not limited to belts, bearings, pulleys, drives, and gear-motors.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and safe work practices.
- Exemplifies and consistently demonstrates our core competencies of communication, innovation, change management, relationship building and leadership.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Welding, fitting, and or machine shop experience is an asset.
- Physical requirements include but are not limited to:
Lifting (50 to 70 pounds), bending, reaching, climbing, walking, crawling, standing, sitting, climbing stairs, speaking, sight, and/or hearing to complete the job duties.
