Description
The Specialist, Transportation Engineering, will perform operational and tactical network analysis for Purolator’s air and ground, regional and national networks to support the Company’s strategic priorities. Including identifying network opportunities analyzing data and executing network optimization.
Responsibilities
- Identify network opportunities, work with a cross functional group to determine appropriate solutions, modelalternatives with simulation tools and ensure timely execution.
- Analyze data to support Network & Capacity Planning, perform predictive analytics, and find networkopportunities for improvement.
- Execute network optimization projects within National Transportation to drive effectiveness and efficiency thatlead to cost savings in the network. Recognize issues and take appropriate corrective actions.
- Initiate and develop tracking tools to measure accountability of project, results, and timely execution.
- Design, develop, maintain and support analytical tools to automate Network & Capacity Planning by usingfleet information from different sources such as Telematics, GIS, and SAP-TM.
- Support Internal and External Customers with respect to finding, analyzing and measuring opportunities inthe network, and provide critical business insights that are actionable.
- Create customized reporting and dashboards for management and team.
- Responsible for maintenance of database, forecast, planning and network model, keeping it up to date anderror free; optimize to support cost savings initiatives for the group of companies.
- Support the design, initiation and improvement of corporate information and technological systems.
- Assess the network foot print to optimize the location, size and coverage model of Hubs, depots, retailcenters, etc. to both maximize service and minimize cost. Ensure team members, management andstakeholders to understand the nature of the projects, expectations, deliverables, risks, progress andmilestones.
- Identify strategic and tactical opportunities and make recommendations for improvements.
Education

Post-secondary education in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Logistics, or a related field.
- Professional designation such as Supply Chain Management (SCMP), Engineering (P.Eng.), or a related certification is considered an asset.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in project management, business analysis, or continuous improvement roles within the supply chain, logistics, and/or transportation industry.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate data analysis, business insights, and project management to support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills, with the ability to identify opportunities and develop practical solutions.
- Experience with process improvement initiatives, including workflow optimization, facilities layout, work methods, performance standards, supply chain planning, and workforce planning.
- Advanced data analysis skills with strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, VBA, Access, Power BI, and database management tools.
- Strong knowledge of transportation networks, operational analytics, and business analytics.
- Excellent ability to analyze complex data sets, translate findings into actionable recommendations, and communicate insights to stakeholders.
Language Requirement: Proficiency in English is required for this position due to the frequent communications that must be conducted in English with various stakeholders. This requirement is justified by the nature of the responsibilities and operational needs.
