Purolator Digital Lab (PDL) is a department of Purolator Inc. that is dedicated to the research, development, and engineering of innovative technologies.  Our goal is to deliver innovation to enable Purolator to be the premier freight, parcel, and logistics provider in Canada. 

Purolator is developing new systems to power our international lines of business. We are looking for a Software Development Manager (Global Integrations) to join our team and lead new technical projects.

The Role

As a Software Development Manager, you’ll have the opportunity to manage a team of Software Developers and Quality Testers, from defining solutions, gathering requirements, and technical software delivery. As the most senior member of the team, you’ll improve its process, and manage its performance.

You will work closely with a dedicated Product Manager to engage internal clients at Purolator, to understand their needs, and actively contribute towards all areas of the software solutions.

This role is hybrid-remote and will manage a team located in Southern Ontario, with your home office in Kitchener, Ontario.

Responsibilities

• Lead your team and communicate its progress to senior leadership.
• Design and innovate solutions for real business problems
• Develop software across a range of languages (including services, mobile UIs, and infrastructure), with a focus on initial quality and best practices.
• Manage the CI/CD pipelines and processes, to ship frequently and safely
• Self-manage your workload in a dynamic and fast changing environment
• Travel to visit Purolator facilities and clients of your solutions in Canada and the US
• Lead the roll-out of your teams’ solutions to market

Additional Resposibilities

With a broad full-stack scope, you will work with a range of technologies such as:

• Microsoft Azure DevOps for version control, work assignment, pipelines, and releases
• .NET C# for service development
• Cloud-native technologies ex. service busses, cloud functions
• Flutter, React, or Angular for front-end user interface development
• Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform
• Postgres, cloud data stores, Redis, and document databases
• Cloud providers: Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Comp-Sci or a related technical field. 

Experience

• Have 6+ years post-schooling experience as a Software Developer or Engineer
• Experienced designing, architecting APIs, and integrations
• Demonstrate success in developing systems that handle hundreds of thousands of messages, images, and transactions per day.
• Effectively communicate, present, and represent the team.
• Enjoy the iterative, agile process with customers.
• Have a valid driver's license and travel within North America.
