Job Description

Reporting to the Finance Manager, Decision Support, the Financial Analyst's role is to provide financial support for the assigned indirect functions. You will support your customers by anticipating needs of the business and providing strategies to support decision making and will be the key finance support to help the business set budgets, forecast and other financial performance as required.

 

Analysis

  • Provide Finance Support for assigned business indirect functions.
  • Provide financial expertise and analysis to support business decisions
  • Tracks performance against budget, prior year and forecast.  Identifies variances to actual results.
  • Understands expense drivers, supports problem solving and develops recommendations.
  • Generate analytics on performance, identifying problems, and initiating process improvement suggestions Provide financial and business related analysis to assess the impact of various projects.

 Reporting

  • Provide monthly reporting package to each area of the business supported
  • Assist in the preparation of materials for monthly Executive presentations, Canada Post and Audit Committee presentations.
  • Generate monthly FTE reporting for the company to be reported on the MBR and the functions.
  • Ad-hoc reporting as required

 Planning

  • Prepare, co-ordinate and facilitate the annual operating budgets for designated functional areas
  • Prepare periodic forecasts (P3, P7 etc) to set baseline for the following year’s budget.
  • Work with the business functional leaders in establishing the budgets and forecast while highlighting any risks or opportunities to their financial budgets.
  • Prepare FTE plan and forecast as per requirement

 Supporting the Business

  • Creates, maintains and generates forecasts and various models.
  • Supports the development, implementation and reporting of internal processes and controls
  • Provides data to assist management to develop action plans to improve profitability. Generates AIM forms, and supports business case creation. Other duties required of the role

  

Qualifications:

 

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance
  • Minimum of 3  financial analysis experience in a similar role
  • Proven analytical skills required
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and Powerpoint), knowledge of SAP (Oracle) is an asset
  • Strong business acumen
  • Anticipate needs of the business
  • Ability to prepare and present financial information in written and verbal format to non-finance individuals. Must be a team player, ability to take the initiative.
  • Knowledge of the courier / transportation industry is an asset
  • Strong organizational, communication and problem solving abilities
  • Ability to foster and maintain relationships at every level of the organization
  • Thrive in a challenging environment with the ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple requests/responsibilities
