Job Description

Reporting to the Finance Manager, Decision Support, the Financial Analyst's role is to provide financial support with the preparation of plan and forecast. This role will be supporting all planning/forecasting activities along with monthly/quarterly reporting and analysis. This role will collaborate with cross functional team to collect all planning/forecasting material and assist with internal/board presentations.



  • Prepare, co-ordinate and facilitate the annual operating budgets for all functional areas

  • Prepare periodic forecasts (P3, P7 etc) to set baseline for the following year’s budget.

  • Work with the business functional leaders in establishing the budgets and forecast while highlighting any risks or opportunities to their financial budgets.

  • Assist with the preparation of monthly/quarterly internal and board presentations.



  • Coordinate with finance team to complete monthly analysis on forecast/plan variances

  • Provide financial expertise and analysis to support monthly results

  • Tracks performance against budget, prior year and forecast.  Identifies variances to actual results.

  • Understands expense drivers, supports problem solving and develops recommendations.

  • Generate analytics on performance, identifying problems, and initiating process improvement suggestions Provide financial and business related analysis to assess the impact of various projects.



  • Assist in the preparation of materials for monthly Executive presentations, Canada Post and Audit Committee presentations.

  • Generate monthly   reporting for the company to be reported on the MBR and the functions.

  • Ad-hoc reporting as required


 Supporting the Business

  • Creates, maintains and generates forecasts and various models.

  • Supports the development, implementation and reporting of internal processes and controls

  • Provides data to assist management to develop action plans to improve profitability.




  • Undergraduate degree in Finance

  • Minimum of 3 year financial planning/analysis experience in a similar role

  • Proven analytical skills required

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and Powerpoint), knowledge of SAP (Oracle) is an asset

  • Strong business acumen

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deliverables in a timely manner

  • Ability to prepare and present financial information in written and verbal format to non-finance individuals. Must be a team player, ability to take the initiative.

  • A self-starter with the ability to take initiative

  • Ability to foster and maintain relationships at every level of the organization

  • Thrive in a challenging environment with the ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple requests/responsibilities
