Job Description

  • Responsible for processing payroll transactions for assigned geographical locations
  • Ensures accurate calculation of payments (salaries, bonuses, benefits, etc.) and compliance with payroll legislation, Union Contracts and company policies and procedures
  • Responsible for the reconciliation of CPP, EI, Federal Tax, EHT, WCB and other government remittances
  • Leads year-end activities, including T4s and Releve 1 reconciliations
  • Responsible for the reconciliation of outstanding Payroll related General Ledger items
  • Works closely with Finance in providing monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reports
  • Key contact for external and internal auditor




  • Exemplifies and consistently demonstrates our core competencies of communication, innovation, change management, relationship building and leadership
  • Post-secondary education with 5+ years of payroll experience in similar capacity
  • CPA certification an asset
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of payroll related legislation and employment standards
  • Experience with SAP HR, SAP Time Management and Crystal reports an asset
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Excel & Access
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written - ability to deal with individuals at different levels within the organization as well as government and law enforcement agencies
  • Ability to work with sensitive information by maintaining high level of confidentiality
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple priorities
  • Exemplifies and consistently demonstrates our core competencies of communication, innovation, change management, relationship building and leadership
  • Bilingual in French/English (both written and oral) would be an asset
