Job Description

We are looking for a motivated Specialist, Corporate Communications to play a key role in helping Purolator achieve its growth goals. 


If you are an exceptional writer and relationship builder who wants an exciting opportunity with a fast-paced Canadian company, this role will provide you with experience in all of the core and emerging corporate communications functions including writing and creating content for diverse audiences, internal and external social media, employee engagement, event planning, project management, marketing, customer communications, issues management and more.


Responsibilities include:
• Writing and editing materials for external and internal audiences including news releases, website updates, customer communications, Purolator's bi-weekly Operations newsletter and quarterly company-wide newsletter.
• Developing and coordinating distribution of customer-facing materials with managers and consultants.
• Assisting the internal communications team with event planning and execution.
• Creating, posting and reporting on content for internal and external social media platforms including Workplace by Facebook, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
• Supporting communications requests and projects for all company departments and operations.
• Administrative support, external vendor management and maintaining company distribution lists and Corporate Communications roll-out plans and content calendars.
• Providing media relations support by developing key messages, Q&As and media lists.
• Developing and formatting/designing presentations, communications templates.
• Working with business partners to coordinate distribution of communications through various channels.


• Post secondary education required; ideally in corporate communications, public relations or journalism.

• 3-5 years' experience working in corporate communications.
• Experience in:

  • Working with internal business partners to achieve communications goals;
  • Writing and producing internal and external communications content;
  • Crisis communications support;
  • Social media.

Skills, knowledge and abilities:
• Strong communication skills in English - both written and verbal.
• Exceptional writing and editing skills for print and online communication.
• Strong project management skills.
• Detail oriented.
• Customer-focus orientation.
• Able to work on multiple tasks (strong time management skills) in a high-energy, high-demand, team-oriented environment.
• Social media calendar and content development.
• Familiar with Canadian Press style.
• Excellent computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Graphic design capabilities and proficiency in Adobe suite of products (specifically InDesign, Acrobat, Photoshop) would be an asset.
