Job Description

The Compensation Analyst is a key role in our Total Rewards team.  The Compensation Analyst supports the design, implementation, communication and administration of compensation programs that support Purolator’s strategic objectives. This role will provide a high-level customer service to client group through prompt and effective guidance on a range of job-related issues. 

 

Reporting to the Manager, Compensation, the Compensation Analyst participates in the development and design of job documentation (templates, forms, processes), development or revisions of job descriptions /PDQs, and maintenance of job description records.

 

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Act as a consultant and advisor to HR on job design,  job documentation, job evaluation process and compensation related issues.
  • Works collaboratively with HRBP’s and Managers, participate in the development of position description questionnaire (PDQ’s) for new/revised positions (e.g. collecting job data, analysis across job levels and functions)
  • Establish contact and followed up with leaders at all levels to ensure they have the opportunity to review and edit drafts of job descriptions/ PDQ’s under their management authority
  • Evaluate, update and reorganize job descriptions /PDQ’s to ensure all positions in the organization have current and complete job description/PDQ
  • Develop and deliver internal training materials to assist others with preparing job documentation (PDQ’s). Share job description development best practices and tools with HR and other leaders
  • Audit and analyzed job data to identify missing information and issues and propose solutions
  • Support job evaluation process by conducted preliminary job description evaluations according to established criteria. Maintain and update the position description questionnaire database and job evaluation records. Coordinated and tracked completion of job evaluations conducted by job evaluation SME’s.
  • Supports the management of the company's job structures; help to maintain all records, translation, job code list updates, works with SAP Business support team to ensure the proper integration of jobs in our system of records.
  • Analyze job data to develop and implement standardized job libraries for specific lines of business in consultation with HR/OD.
  • Supports the development and implementation of compensation related communications including relevant program launch materials (i.e. job documentation,  job evaluation, pay equity), management presentations, and employee communications.
  • Participates in compensation related projects such as Pay Equity; provides project support, record-keeping, communication, training materials etc.
  • Other tasks or activities if assigned

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • College or University degree in Human Resources, Business, Communication or related field
  • 2+ years’ experience in a similar role
  • Experience with job analysis, job documentation (PDQ’s, description development), job evaluation preferred
  • Microsoft Office: Intermediate Word/ Excel, PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to provide assistance/prepare effective job documentation, prepare supporting job evaluation rationales, prepare job analyses and recommendations to clients
  • Developed presentation and facilitation skills to effectively deliver information to large and small audiences on new initiatives, changes to current programs and practices and to mentor/coach and/or train HR community on  job documentation related processes, plans and their application and usage
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills to effectively prioritize work and deliver to client group on a timely basis in a high volume, fast paced and demanding environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills with the ability to collaborate and work effectively at all levels in the organization to discuss issues, solicit and provide advice, share information and provide recommendations and solutions in response to job related situations
  • Good judgement, diplomacy and ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality; ability to influence and persuade others
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Pay Equity Act and maintenance of Pay Equity would be an asset
  • CHRP designation (or actively working towards) an asset
  • Bilingual (French/English) an asset, but not required

 

Work Environment
