Description

The ideal candidate should have 3 to 5 years proven experience as a document control and CAD specialist. Must have proficiency in CAD software,   and documentation control methodology, as well as excellent  math skills, and the ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Creating Technical Drawings:

Draftsmen produce precise and detailed technical drawings, blueprints, and other technical documentation using CAD software.

• Following Specifications:

They interpret sketches, layouts, and specifications provided by engineers, architects, and other professionals to create accurate drawings.

• Collaboration:

Draftsmen collaborate with engineers, architects, and project managers to understand design specifications and requirements, ensuring the drawings meet industry standards and project guidelines.

• Software Proficiency:

They are proficient in using CAD software, such as AutoCAD, to create and modify drawings.

• Quality Control:

Draftsmen ensure that drawings are accurate, complete, and comply with industry standards and regulations.

• Documentation:

They assist in preparing project documentation and reports, including building schedules, foundation plans, and material lists.

Additional Responsibilities

• Problem Solving:

Draftsmen identify potential issues or conflicts in designs and propose solutions, working with engineers and architects to refine designs.

• Industry Knowledge:

They stay up-to-date on industry trends, material costs, and construction methodologies.

• Project Management:

They may assist in developing project schedules and timelines, and participate in project meetings to provide technical expertise.

• Document Management: Organize, maintain, and update document databases and systems.

• Distribution: Ensure documents are distributed to the correct recipients and at the appropriate time.

• Compliance: Adhere to company policies and procedures related to document control.

• Quality Control: Verify the accuracy and quality of documents before they are issued.

• Storage and Retrieval: Maintain secure storage and ensure documents are readily accessible.

• Archival and Purging: Follow proper procedures for archiving and destroying documents.

• Training: Provide training to staff on document control procedures and systems.

• Reporting: Prepare reports on document control activities.

Requirements, Skills and Education

 

  • Proven work experience as a Drafter or similar role
  • Hands-on experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software
  • Good math skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • BSc in Engineering, Architecture or degree from a technical college
