Reporting to the Finance Manager, Costing, you will actively support your customers by anticipating needs of the business and provide sound insights and strategies to support timely, evidence-based decision-making
Responsibilities
- Be part of the exciting journey by supporting the business enhancement of our costing, performance and profitability ecosystem through system optimization efforts or other new projects
- Support the month-end activities of Purolator costing and profitability management system
- Provide financial expertise and analysis to support timely business decisions
- Leverages deep understanding of cost drivers to support problem solving efforts and develops both business/financial insights and recommendations for business partners
- Generates profitability analyses, identifies and provides root-cause analyses on continuous improvement opportunities, and implements process improvement suggestions
- Develop deep understanding of the core data streams such as revenue, billing, volume analysis and operations data and finance policies
- Partners data requestor(s)/end user(s) to understand the requirements and advise best way to achieve the desired goal(s)
- Supports data mining and analysis requests using cloud-based data warehouse and/or AWS QuikSight reports and leverages insights and outcomes to generate action plans that improve processes/systems and overall profitability
- Develops, implements and sustains standards and data integrity controls and processes which promote consistent and reliable corporate financial reporting and account reconciliation.
- Supports the business and enhancement of our costing, performance and profitability ecosystem through system optimization efforts or other new projects
- Challenge the status quo and seeks new efficient ways of working (through team learning, process and/or system enhancements)
- Manages multiple priorities and ensures that organizational goals and objectives are met
- Ad-hoc projects or analyses as required/assigned
Education
- Bachelor's or College Degree in an appropriate field of study (Finance or Accounting) required
- Accounting designation (CPA or CA/CMA/CGA) preferred
Experience
- 3-5 years Financial Analysis experience (preferably in a complex organizational environment)
- Proven analytical skills required (must have)
- Advanced knowledge and experience with SAP preferred (S/4Hana and/or SAP PBI is a plus)
- Strong proficiency in SQL database querying preferred.
- Freight-forwarding, package, transportation or logistics industry experience (is a plus)
- Proven ability dive into the numbers and extract meaningful “big picture” insights and stories from analyses
- Robust knowledge of financial statements, accounting principles and standards
- Experience learning/using complex ERP systems and exceptional data management skills
- Positive change agent who challenges the status quo and proactive driver of multiple time-sensitive activities and continuous improvement efforts
- Demonstrated emotional maturity, self-awareness and learning with a strong capability to build and sustain trusted relationships, while fostering an environment of accountability, trust and resilience

- Ability to prepare and present financial information in written and verbal formats to non-finance audiences

- Solid organizational and time management skills with a keen eye and attention to detail
