Job Description

The Learning Development Specialist

The Learning Development Specialist supports international and local learning experts like trainers, HR Business partners etc. in developing inspiring and sustainable learning events and material. Additionally, he/she is to maintain the operational functionalities and acts as regional first line user support for LMS admins and users. This role supports the Success Factors Talent Management system by overseeing enhancements, fixes and changes including design, testing, and releases to production.



  • Collaborates with trainers and other stakeholders for creating (digital) learning content (methods, formats, tools, etc.) and content loading; maintains training and user profile records; coordinates calendaring and enrollment, tracking, assessments, reporting and customer communications for learning events.
  • Supports the constant evaluation local training needs
  • Manages community areas within LMS (SuccessFactors)
  • Manages business processes, daily operation, use, and configuration of the LMS.
  • Identifies and communicates opportunities for process and quality improvements, providing feedback on usage, defects, and suggested enhancements.
  • Acquires and maintains knowledge of current technology as it applies to LMS software and systems.
  • Creates and updates resources to train and support the use of appropriate learning technology, as
    • subject matter expert for learning
    • the use and development of the LMS
    • the evaluation and reporting of learning & development
  • Creating reports in excel using various pivots & vlookups, creating adhoc reports
  • Performance Management & Systems -management enhancements, fixes and changes including design, testing, and releases to production. 
  • Provide integration support for Purolator's systems, between Purolator functional areas

User Management LMS:

  • Manages user accounts as needed and assigns user permissions.
  • Supervises that users are permitted to access the LMS per guidelines and manages account approval and denial process.
  • Manages user roles, user certificates and other learning objects.

Course Management:

  • Supports global learning experts in creation and management of courses.
  • Manages external learning content (content curation, evaluation). Consults with stakeholders in use and selection of appropriate external learning content
  • Develops and updates standardized tools and reporting for ongoing access to learning information; generates standard and custom reports.
  • Supports and manages the overall course structure and sets up course programs based on specifications from the instructional designer.
  • Supports tracking of course revisions and history.

Troubleshooting, Reporting & System Administration:

  • Provides first line troubleshooting assistance for admins and leaners.
  • Reviews and monitors system performance in close collaboration with IT.
  • Collaborates with IT for administration of the system, which includes software updates, releases and interfaces. Assists with data migrations, testing and working with IT and outside vendors to troubleshoot systems issues; supports development of processes.



  • Preferred hard skill requirements: experience with SuccessFactors and SuccessFactors Learning in detail
  • Minimum years of relevant work experience: 2 years’ experience as an LMS administrator
  • Bachelor’s degree in an HR field or college equivalent diploma
  • Prior expertise in Success Factors administration; knowledge of how to maneuver through the system and make necessary updates to roles, permissions, updating, deleting, routing forms, testing system releases , creating reports
  • 2 to 3 years’ experience in:
  • Managing Success Factors or similar system; system testing on enhancements and troubleshooting
  • Strong Communications Skills
  • Proven troubleshooting skills required when testing system releases/issues
  • The ability to take on a subject matter expert role with this technology
  • Must have the ability to work with highly confidential information
  • Advanced skills in MS Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Excel – using complicated functions and formulas to analyze data ; using pivots to summarize key information
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
