Job Description

We are searching for a Manager of Legal Operations to lead the creation of Purolator’s first Legal Operations function. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this person will be responsible for building out the operational, strategic, and technical functions of Purolator’s Legal department.


What you’ll do:

  • Build: Build a multi-year roadmap for the Legal Operations function supporting the Legal team.
  • Strategic Planning: Partner with the General Counsel to lead strategic planning initiatives.
  • Operational Excellence: Work collaboratively with the Legal team to identify and implement operational initiatives across the department.
  • Financial Management: Drive financial management, cost management, and performance management for the Legal department. 
  • Technology & Processes: Help develop and implement a technology roadmap for the department.
  • Vendor Management: Manage and liaise with Legal vendors to track and reduce spend. Oversee onboarding, billing, budgeting, and accrual processes.
  • Knowledge Management: Improve the Legal department’s knowledge strategy.
  • Operational Efficiency: Drive other operational initiatives to increase productivity of the Legal team.


What we look for:


  • Minimum 5 to 7 years of relevant combination of strategy, operations, and technology experience, ideally building a legal operations function in-house.
  • Deep working knowledge and hands-on experience with technology, including using and exploring different technologies. Direct experience managing and implementing matter management, eBilling, contract management, and knowledge management technology would be ideal.
  • A natural problem solver and strategic thinker who is comfortable in a fast-paced high-growth environment.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and adapt to the shifting demands of the business.
  • Analytical, creative, problem solving and entrepreneurial personality.
  • Highly skilled in communication, negotiation, and project management.
