Job Description

The Manager, Central Operations Finance provides financial and business support to the Central Region Operations team.

The Central Operations team drives a significant portion of the annual spend of Purolator to deliver best in class service to our customers across Central Canada including the Metro and Greater Ontario Divisions. The Manager, Central Operations Finance will be a key member of the Regional Decision team.  

The Regional Decision team will look to the Manager Central Operations Finance to provide a high level of business acumen, coaching and direction. Together with one or more analysts, the Manager Central Operations Finance will provide business insights and visibility to areas that will improve financial performance and assist in determining allocation of capital investment

The Manager, Central Operations Finance will also support the Operations team in developing budgets, business cases, financial results and appropriate KPIs to measure the business while at the same time ensuing financial controls are adhered to while driving fiscal responsibility and accountability into the culture of the Operations team. This role will be located in the Central Region and will be supported with a minimum of one Financial Analyst


  • Collaborate with the Senior Director Central Region and their Management team to deliver best in class financial reporting and analysis for the Central Region including Field Operations,  the Ontario Hub, GTT and Central Freight
  • Implement standard processes to review & analyze financial information and key metrics that drive financial performance; the purpose of this is two-fold; to ensure best in class external financial reporting into the Accounting team each month, quarter and year end while also providing internal reporting and analysis that assists Central Region management in driving business improvement
  • Partner with the Operations team to instill a culture of continuous improvement. Measure the progress on continuous improvement initiatives within the Central Region
  • Support the operations team with sound financial analysis for Business Cases and business improvement initiatives
  • Drive the creation of Operations Budgets within the Central Region; implement a regular process and cadence to review and analyze performance to budget
  • As part of the Central Operations management team and the broader Finance team; ensure alignment and collaboration of Central Region Finance within both teams
  • Travel extensively within the Region to effectively partner with the Operations team across the Region.


  • University degree in finance or business plus an accounting designation (CPA)
  • 5-10 Years of related experience; experience in transportation would be beneficial
  • Must possess strong analytical, strategic, decision-making and problem solving skills
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal with solid presentation skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to effectively influence at all levels of the organization
  • Skilled in the use of Excel & PowerPoint
  • Strong Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience with SAP
