This role will be supporting the portfolio leads by taking a leadership role in the end-to-end planning and execution of projects ensuring effective utilization of required organizational resources, conformity to company policies and strategies, meeting appropriate best practices, contributing to, and acting as the subject matter expert of the Project Management Office methodologies
Responsibilities
- Participate with internal customers to identify business and functional streams of work and processes requiring change or improvement through disciplined project management cadence.
- Extensive interaction with senior executives and project sponsors.
- Obtains approvals from Project Sponsor regarding the integrated project plan and change requests to potential changes in scope, quality, cost, schedule, baselines.
- Direct and have overall responsibility for the completion of projects or programs involving many departments, according to general work plans, often in a matrix management structure.
- Responsible for establishing specific objectives, determining appropriate methods and procedures, establishing deadlines, identifying new priorities, and taking necessary action.
- Takes a leadership role in ensuring projects effectively utilize required organizational resources, conform to company business and strategies, and meet appropriate best practices.
- Contribute to the further refinement of Project Management methodology via the PMO.
- Takes a leadership role in promoting effective communication of project status, risks, issues, and successes in conjunction with key project managers and senior management.
- Develops and communicates an integrated perspective of project timelines, interdependencies, and resource requirements.
- Monitors actual results of projects relative to budgets and implementation plans.
- Establishes and maintains effective, productive relationships with key management and their user groups across the organization
Education and Experience
Education:
- Post Secondary Education in the field of Engineering,
- Computer Science, Business, Economics, or equivalent. Formal Project Management Training / Experience, preferably PMI certified PMP or working towards PMP Certification
Experience:
- Extensive work experience including the management of people and projects.
- Proven record of successful delivery of complex infrastructure and process improvement projects.
Skills
- Able to manage conflicting priorities with tight deadlines.
- Well-developed communication skills (written & verbal) appropriate to various management, project team, and general business area requirements.
- Proven experience in coordinating and managing resources across business disciplines.
