The National Investigation Lead, is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Investigations and dispute resolution processes while assisting the Corporate Compliance Officer to ensure our compliance with legal, regulatory and governance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise the intake and handling of employee relations complaints, in accordance with Purolator’s Workplace Harassment and Violence Prevention Policy and applicable federal laws and regulations
  • Establishing and implementing strategy with business partners in response to specific cases involving increased reputational, financial or operational risk to Purolator
  • Assess existing business processes related to employee relations complaints and identify opportunities for continuous improvements.
  • Create and manage related training and reference tools to facilitate and harmonize management of cases including the centralized database for tracking reports, complaints, notice of occurrences of harassment and violence and alleged Code of Business Conduct and Ethics violations
  • Identify trends and report accordingly to the Company’s Board of directors and executives as required
  • The Lead will be required to interact with internal and external stakeholders including third-party investigators.
  • The Lead will be responsible for representing the company in response to external regulatory investigations pertaining to compliance with requirements under legislation.

Education

 

  • Bachelor of Law or Civil Law and a member in good standing of the Bar.

Experience

 

  • Specialized knowledge in several fields of Canadian law, including particularly Part II of the Canada Labour Code, the Workplace Harassment and Violence Prevention Regulations and the Canadian Human Rights Act.
  • Strong knowledge of workplace investigation techniques and workplace investigation best practices as determined by US courts, would be highly beneficial in this position.
  • Certification by a professional association governing the conduct of workplace investigation.
  • This role will require practical experience in setting up and maintaining new operational processes linking the Human Resources, Health and Safety and Law departments
  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience with workplace investigations
  • Fluency in English and French is an asset
