Job Description

This role is for a proactive, hands-on Learning and Development Program Consultant with a passion for learning and training new up and upcoming best practices, with a talent for aligning organizational objectives and goals, influencing development towards positive change. Core responsibilities include supporting major projects to develop, design and implement Learning & Development programs for our Health and Safety and Operations business partners. Must utilize Adult training and development methodologies coupled with, best practice research of current and upcoming trends to ensure safe, sustainable and ever evolving L&D programs that meet Purolator growth.



  • Act as a program owner to maintain the integrity and accuracy of training material.
  • Lead and coach a team of L&D consultants.
  • Ensure that current learning activities and tools are effective in reaching Purolator’s safety and operational objectives and that they meet instructional design requirements.
  • Support major L&D project initiatives.
  • Build and implement a mechanism to inventory, track, and follow up on actions and development progress/readiness and measure program success.
  • Ability to develop and or be the L&D SME with Instructional Design team for facilitator guides, participant guides, PowerPoint decks, and job aids to support the learning opportunities.
  • Produce narratives and written reports that analyze and interpret program results and other findings.
  • Assist with post-training gap analysis’ and needs assessments through surveys, knowledge checks and focus groups to implement timely training feedback
  • Ensure that all training curricula, manuals and programs are current and meet the needs of business.
  • Support our Regional L&D Field teams.


Ideal requirements

  • Adult education diploma, certificate or degree.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years in Learning & Development program development type role
  • 5+ years demonstrated ability applying adult learning practices in needs assessments, instructional design, delivery, and evaluative methods. 
  • Exceptional presentation skills with ability to confidently facilitate, train-the-trainer and coach within a highly regulated Operations environment.
  • Proven strengths in problem solving, issue-resolution, attention to detail, and ability to simultaneously manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
  • Some experience and or understanding of Operations logistics, transportation and overall health and safety knowledge
  • Strong working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Experience in project management and ability to influence change.
  • The ability to work in Terminal, Depots and Retail centres, with required travel of 25% - 50% to these locations within Canada.


Key Accountabilities

  • Collaborate and work closely cross-functionally with business partners within, HR, Health & Safety, Operations and Leadership.
  • Implement resourceful ways to provide training from Virtual Instructor Led to classroom to on floor practical’s to drive performance and new initiatives.
  • Source and analyze cost effective “off-the shelf” learning & development products, establishing and maintaining networks and partnerships with vendors, service providers and educational institutions.
  • Provide initiative critical updates as needed with little notice
  • Other responsibilities as required.
