Description

The Senior Manager Dangerous Goods leads the strategic development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Dangerous Goods program management processes. The position provides oversight, strategic guidance, and operational support to National Dangerous Goods elements such as leadership (i.e. goal setting), risk management, communication planning, information management, training and competence, incident investigation, and program monitoring and assessment.  Position stewards and educates the organization on Dangerous Goods processes to manage compliance to regulatory requirements and management of organizational risk. This position works closely with business units, partners, and external vendors having accountability and responsibility for Purolator’s Dangerous Goods program. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop team of Dangerous Goods professionals 
  • Develop strategies to continuously improve processes and workflows to manage risk
  • Develop compliance procedures and standard operating procedures to ensure that the organization is complying with regulatory requirements and operating in a safe environment for employees and equipment
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to investigate non compliance/ provide guidance on safe DG safeguards 
  • Manage organizational compliance and risk
  • Direct team to investigate incidents/accidents and make recommendations to mitigate risk 
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with regulatory agencies 
     

Education

  • University degree or equivalent work experience 

Experience

  • 7-10 years progressive management experience
  • 2 years Project Management experience
  • In-depth knowledge of hazardous / dangerous materials and DG Regulations
  • Strategic Oversite and compliance to all DG investigations
  • Responsibility for budgets, costs allocated to the DG Program 
  • Tight deadline problem resolution
