Job Description

The Senior Analyst Trade Research and Implementation will be responsible for ensuring that Purolator is fully aware of and is compliant with all customs and agency regulations and requirements on both sides of the border and managing risk mitigation through process development, implementation, and training. The position will support the strategic options and objectives for the company by identifying opportunities through extensive research, analysis, and trade trends.

 

The successful candidate will

  • Mitigate risks for the organization by ensuring that all customs and trade compliance requirements are met
  • Research regulations on an ongoing basis to maintain expert knowledge
  • Work with the Senior Manager and other stakeholders to draft and implement customs programs as required
  • Attend seminars and conferences to remain current on changes and trends
  • Provide guidance and training to the organization on cross border requirements
  • Work with Purolator's assigned customs brokers in the interest of Purolator and its customers
  • Identify opportunities within the trade policies and inform the strategic options for the organization.
  • Develop and maintain a close relationship with Canada Customs, US Customs, the CFIA and other regulatory agencies
  • Translate regulations and provisions and make recommendations on new business opportunities or ideas for the company
  • Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with Purolator’s assigned customs brokers as well as brokers affiliated with service partners
  • Participate in various committees and working groups that function in the trade and compliance environment
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce or Business Administration
  • CTCS, CCS, LCB, or equivalent. More than 7 years designation
  • 5-10 years’ experience in trade compliance or trade analytics field
  • Expert knowledge of Canadian and USA import and export requirements
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of the Courier Low Value Shipment Program
  • Excellent, proven research and analytical skills
  • Above average understanding of the Customs Tariff
  • Collaborative, persuasive, approachable, engaging, and the ability to work successfully cross functionally across business units within the organization
  • Strong presentation/communication skills and the ability to manage down and up within the organization
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills with proven abilities in problem analysis and resolution
  • Strong written & oral presentation skills to stakeholders at multiple levels
