Job Description



·  Responsible for processing payroll transactions for assigned geographical locations

·  Ensures accurate calculation of payments (salaries, bonuses, benefits, etc.) and compliance with payroll legislation, Union Contracts and company policies and procedures

·  Responsible for the reconciliation of CPP, EI, Federal Tax, EHT, WCB and other government remittances

·  Leads year-end activities, including T4s and Releve 1 reconciliations

·  Responsible for the reconciliation of outstanding Payroll related General Ledger items

·  Works closely with Finance in providing monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reports

·  Key contact for external and internal auditors


·  Exemplifies and consistently demonstrates our core competencies of communication, innovation, change management, relationship building and leadership

·  Post-secondary education with 5+ years of payroll experience in similar capacity

·  CPA certification

·  Strong knowledge and understanding of payroll related legislation and employment standards

·  Prior experience with UKG Pro payroll processing software an asset

·  Experience with SAP HR, SAP Time Management and BI reporting

·  Advanced knowledge of MS office including Excel 

·  Excellent communication skills both verbal and written - ability to deal with individuals at different levels within the organization as well as government and law enforcement agencies

·  Ability to work with sensitive information by maintaining high level of confidentiality

·  Self-motivated, detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple priorities

·  Exemplifies and consistently demonstrates our core competencies of communication, innovation, change management, relationship building and leadership
