Specialist Trade Compliance /Specialiste complaisance commerciale

The Trade Compliance Specialist will act as a subject matter expert (SME), providing support to internal and external Purolator customers on matters relating to import and export compliance requirements within the supply chain. The position will primarily focus on exports, assisting customers with developing processes that will assist the smooth flow of shipments through the borders. This includes correct classifications, permits, and any other requirements to complete a customs entry.

 

Responsibilities

  • Developing and growing Purolator’s cross-border business and maintaining accurate and up-to-date information within the organization
  • Working with internal stakeholders to provide expertise on cross-border inquiries
  • Responding to external inquiries from customers and other brokers
  • Building and maintaining client product database
  • Reviewing industry and regulatory updates and preparing information for sharing with internal and external customers.
  • Conduct training for new employees or develop and deliver presentations to other departments.
  • Guide others on how to proceed with certain situations relative to the role.
  • Work closely with external customers and sales to understand the customers’ business and products to recommend the best solutions.

    Qualifications

  • Certification from a recognized institution.
  • Membership in a professional institution that promotes continuous learning is an asset
  • CCS, CTCS, LCB or equivalent certification
  • Over 5 years of progressive experience
  • More than 5 years of experience working in the customs brokerage industry
  • Bilingualism is an asset
  • Expert knowledge of the Customs Clearance process
  • Expertise in HTSUS, building and maintaining product database, classifying, and rating products, handling inquiries, and providing expert information.
  • Visual assertion to read, and interpret regulations, HTSUS, and frequent industry updates.
  • Extensive knowledge of US Customs regulations (19CFR)
  • High Proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Close attention to detail especially with building tariff and product databases to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Active listening and documentation.
