Job Description

This role is for a proactive, hands-on Senior Learning and Development Program Consultant with a passion for learning as well as Health & Safety. Core responsibilities include supporting the Health & safety department as a key portfolio though their learning projects & initiatives. Along with Health & Safety as a key portfolio there would be other major and minor projects to develop, design and implement for other key stakeholders from a Learning & Development perspective. A successful candidate must utilize Adult Learning and program design methodologies coupled with, project management and vendor management in order to create sustainable, measurable and continuously improving L&D programs that meet Purolator’s business needs.



  • Act as a program or portfolio owner to maintain the integrity and accuracy of training material.
  • Ensure that current learning activities and tools are effective in reaching Purolator’s health & safety and operational objectives and that they meet program design requirements.
  • Support major & minor L&D projects and initiatives.
  • Build and implement a mechanism to inventory, track, and follow up on actions and development progress/readiness and measure program success.
  • Ability to act as the adult learning SME when partnering with the Instructional Design team for facilitator guides, participant guides, PowerPoint decks, and job aids to support learning opportunities.
  • Produce narratives and written reports that analyze and interpret program results and other findings.
  • Assist with post-training gap analysis’ and needs assessments through surveys, knowledge checks and focus groups to implement timely training feedback
  • Ensure that all training curricula, manuals and programs are current and meet the needs of business.



Ideal requirements

  • Adult education diploma, certificate or degree.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 7+ years in Learning & Development program development type role
  • 7+ years demonstrated ability applying adult learning practices in needs assessments, instructional design, delivery, and evaluative methods.
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • Experience in vendor management.
  • Budget management experience required (500k+).
  • Proven strengths in problem solving, issue-resolution, attention to detail, and ability to simultaneously manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
  • Experience and or understanding of Operations logistics, transportation and health & safety.
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • Experience in vendor management.


Key Accountabilities

  • Oversee the development of training programs or solutions; formulates or reviews training outlines, and determines appropriate adult learning methodologies and formats; evaluates and recommends incorporation of vendor programs, as appropriate to meet overall training goals and objectives.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of training and development programs and utilizes relevant evaluation data to revise or recommend changes in instructional objectives and methods.
  • Provides input and assists in the planning, assessment, and implementation of organizational goals and objectives, in line with overall university goals and objectives.
  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
  • Other responsibilities as required
