Job Description

The Manager Strategic Partners will be responsible for influencing and supporting the strategic, operational direction of the Last Mile Service Providers (LMSP) program through cross-functional collaboration across the organization. Identifies and implements process improvements to support organizational targets for safety, quality, cost, and delivery.

 

The Last Mile Service Providers program supports over 180 partners who provide on demand courier services as required to support high demand periods. This program is critical to ensure a successful Peak season.

 

Duties

  • Design and lead projects to optimize the LMSP program. Report quarterly at the Executive Communications Meeting.
  • Responsible for orchestrating strategic decisions for the material, information, and key performance metric flow through the network.
  • Build an integrated, flexible transportation and delivery network through strategic partnerships.
  • Build overload capacity in the Purolator Network to enable to address high growth segments.
  • Prepare the LMSP network for Peak season via forecasts, operations planning and training.
  • Embrace innovation with the adoption of digital tools to empower business insights, enable visibility and make our operations even more reliable.
  • Much of the focus will be on the completion of projects and tactics to ensure the achievement of current and future year goals and objectives.
  • Design and publish a weekly report presenting KPIs and key activities. Present regular updates on the Better Everyday call.
  • Expert level command of Lean (e.g., Value Stream Mapping) and Six Sigma (e.g. Process Control Charts) tools.
  • Requires the awareness of the financial impacts from operational changes and reporting of KPIs (e.g., revenue, costs, and profit).
  • Support the expense, capital planning and budgeting process.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools is essential (specifically Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Proficiency with Qlikview and BI is preferred
  • Leads and facilitates Lean initiatives such as Kaizen events and Lean process reviews. 
  • Coordinates with third party consultants where applicable. 
     

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Process Engineering, and/or Business
  • Industry Operations experience is mandatory
  • Lean and/or Six Sigma certification is essential.
  • Operational experience implementing large scale, national initiatives.
  • Requires a full understanding of the end-to-end value stream and applies “systems thinking” to solution formulation.
  • Expert level command of Lean and Six Sigma tools along with knowledge of product and network processes is required.      
  • Experience leading Kaizen events focused on improving manufacturing production processes resulting in costs reduction
  • Must have thorough understanding of cycle time reduction, waste reduction, yield improvement, productivity and throughput improvement to make process improvement recommendations for change.
  • Excellent communication skills and prior experience influencing others in a culture that is unaccustomed to using Lean methodologies.
