Job Description

Reporting to the Director, Corporate Sustainability, the Manager, Sustainability – Supply Chain is responsible for the creation and execution of an innovative corporate strategy to reduce Scope 3 emissions from our supply chain and ensure that we are acting responsibly in our procurement choices.  The incumbent will develop, implement, and manage Purolator’s Green Procurement Policy.  Additionally, the incumbent will support customer requests, and requests for new business as it pertains to Purolator’s sustainability strategy and performance. The incumbent will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify, test and implement new green products and services, including sustainable packaging.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the reduction of Scope 3 emissions across Purolator’s operations, including working with Procurement and our service partners to lower GHG emissions, largely related to our subcontracted fleet
  • Developing and implementing Purolator’s Green Procurement Policy, including training, supplier evaluations, and program oversight
  • Engaging with teams, such as technology, to ensure that environmental performance standards are incorporated in our purchasing requirements, and that product takeback or recycling programs are in place as needed
  • Completing RFP and RFI requests for new business as it pertains to Purolator’s Sustainability strategy and performance
  • Supporting customer information requests and surveys related to our sustainability initiatives and performance
  • Completing the annual Ecovadis questionnaire, which is used to rate a company’s Sustainability performance, and working with internal stakeholders to improve Purolator’s Ecovadis rating
  • Elevating Purolator’s brand profile by supporting our customers in meetings or through presentations that communicate our sustainability commitments and continued progress
  • Working with Procurement to identify and implement sustainable packing solutions for Purolator branded products
  • Working with our customers to implement reusable or reduced waste packing solutions
  • Developing content for Corporate Communications and our Sustainability reporting related to Purolator’s Green Procurement practices and Scope 3 emissions reduction
  • Representing Purolator on industry committees and working groups related to Sustainable Supply Chain
  • Remaining current on Sustainable Supply Chain trends and best practices
  • Collaborating with various external stakeholders to support execution of programs

 

Qualifications:

  • University Degree preferably at a Masters Level – Sustainability Management, Environmental Engineering/Science, Environment & Business, Circular Economy
  • Specialized training and/or experience in sustainable supply chain and green procurement practices.
  • Deep knowledge of ESG issues, GHG emissions reduction strategies and measurement, policy development, program management, supplier engagement and sustainable packaging.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in delivering Sustainability solutions and programs
  • Detailed understanding of environmental impacts in the supply chain (GHG emissions, waste, etc.)
  • Experience eliminating single-use plastics and implementing sustainable packaging alternatives
  • Strategic thinker with demonstrated success in creating and executing national programs
  • Confidence to work independently and autonomously, self-driven
  • Collaborative, builds trusting relationships
  • Proven ability to lead teams and maximize their capabilities
  • Influencer with strong analytical skills, detail-oriented
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent organization skills, time management skills, with the ability to manage changing priorities
  • Proven experience in building and creating a strategy to reduce Scope 3 emissions
  • Experience leading the introduction and roll out of strategy at all levels from Board of Directors and SVPs down to front line employees
  • Prior experience in Transportation, Courier or Supply Chain would be an asset
  • Strong influencing skills at all levels
