Job Description

The Trade Compliance Specialist will act as a subject matter expert (SME), providing support to internal and external Purolator customers on matters relating to import and export compliance requirements within the supply chain.  


The position will:

  • be responsible for ensuring that invoices issued to Purolator for clearance related charges, are audited and settled as per our agreement with our brokerage service partners.
  • assist customers with developing processes that will assist the smooth flow of shipments through the borders. This includes classifications, permits and any other requirements to complete a customs entry.
  • help to develop and grow Purolator’s cross border business.
  • Help with training new employees and to maintain accurate and up-to-date information within the organization.


Requirements & Qualifications:

  • CCS, CTCS, LCB or equivalent certification
  • More than 5 years’ experience working it the customs brokerage industry
  • Extensive knowledge of the Harmonized Tariff Classification and rating systems
  • Extensive knowledge of US Customs regulations (19CFR)
  • High Proficiency on MS Office applications
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • College Degree - Certification from a recognized institution. Membership in professional institution that promotes continuous learning is an asset
  • Expert knowledge of the Customs Clearance process
  • Expertise in building and maintaining tariff databases
