Job Description

The Regional Operation Excellence Manager will be responsible for managing performance excellence program and driving performance improvement initiatives across the Quebec and Atlantic region.

 

Key areas of responsibilities include:

  • Activity related to Engineering, Continuous Improvement, Productivity/cost performance, service and quality.
  • Setting and monitoring operations performance KPI and metrics for all levels of operations which include development of the KPI, method of reporting, establishing data owners, maintenance of the KPI, management of resource plans, etc.
  • Providing business intelligence and insights on operations performance, key levers and improvement opportunities, and
  • Owning the overall operations management review cadence which include monthly business reviews, national business reviews and field operation reviews

 

Job Responsibilities:

Include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the Operations Excellence Team with a focus on performance excellence, business hydraulics, and operations dynamics
  • Conducting career development and performance reviews for team members, providing ongoing support and accountability for achievement;
  • Working collaboratively with internal functions (i.e. HR, Finance, Procurement, etc.) to ensure tight alignment on financial and operational performance
  • Be the trusted adviser and manage communication on all aspects of operational excellence including performance targets, progress against targets, issues and risks and mitigating actions;
  • Perform Activity level tracking, issue resolution, technical guidance and productivity, if and when required.
  • Develop and manage relationships with internal customers dealing with complex or sensitive issues and/or gaining cooperation with accountability
  • Coordinate and publish both internal and customer specific SOP’s
  • Drive operational efficiencies and continuous improvement in the Operation across Quebec and Atlantic:
  • Identify and lead common programs that help improve operations performance
  • Manage and monitor multiple interdependent performance improvement projects and initiatives
  • Integrate, consolidate and manage scope, resources, timelines and budgets on projects/initiatives;
  • Develop supply chain solutions by mapping out current and future state scenarios.
  • Oversee and manage performance and ROI on all initiatives
  • Partner with Sales and Customers to review, create and deliver operational solutions
  • Support Purolator Operations team in planning and executing on customer expectations.
  • Develop and apply quality operational models to address volume fluctuations
  • Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations to mitigate
  • In partnership with key stakeholders, prepare and distribute communications for Field Ops on specific directions (i.e. day and time definite deliveries, staggered induction for various geographic destinations, event specific)
  • Effectively partner with Hub and Pick up & Delivery leads on raised concerns due to quality of load, arrival times, packaging, label quality or other identified issues.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to effectively forecast and plan for peak events (i.e. Black Friday)
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Business Management/Industrial Engineering degree or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of leadership experience in a Supply Chain (Transportation/Network/logistic) environment
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Project Management - PMP designation preferred but not required
  • Six Sigma Certified (Green Belt or Black Belt)
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to influence business partners to achieve desired results / outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and present business cases with identified ROI’s to senior management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Productivity and performance measures
