Sort Manager - Ville St-Laurent, Quebec
Working hours and schedule: 37.5 hours/week (PM shift)

 

Job Description

  • Manage and supervise the daily activities of triage operations, including staff allocation, analysis and planning.
  • Manage productivity operations from sorting to loading and unloading trucks, mail sorting, revenue capture (cubing, handling fee control), CDS, MD, Non-Convoyables, Air Shipments as well as employee management on the floor.
  • Manage a group of unionized employees, including selection and hiring, assignment, performance evaluation, coaching, development and training, work attendance, discipline.
  • Ensure the implementation of the Quality system and tools and contribute to the continuous improvement of the service.
  • Manage labour relations, including the application of the provisions of collective agreements including grievance settlement, work schedules, health and safety.
  • Communicate information from the company including policies, practices, regulations, procedures and programs.
  • Complete and submit daily reports on the operational activities of the shift.
  • Create a positive work environment that encourages employee engagement within a team and collaborative spirit.
  • Other related tasks.

 

Qualifications

  • D.E.C. or equivalent
  • Two years' experience in an automated operating environment, good knowledge of methods and procedures.
  • Experience in the management and supervision of unionized personnel.
  • Demonstrate leadership, credibility and the ability to engage employees.
  • Good labour and interpersonal skills.
  • Good bilingual verbal and written communication.
  • Analytical mind, ability to make decisions and solve problems.
  • Autonomy, ability to work in a team and under pressure.
  • Positive and proactive mind, demonstrated organizational, planning and control skills.
  • Knowledge of computer applications related to work.
