The Supervisor role reports to the Regional Maintenance Manager


Job Description

Essential functions of the job, include but not limited to:
• Ensure 100% compliance with quality, health & safety rules, guidelines and regulations; ensure the Maintenance Program is properly executed meeting all OHSA and legislative rules and regulations.
• Responsible to ensure maintenance programs and support services that the Regional Hubs operate with 99.95% uptime and availability, reliably and consistently across the Purolator network.
• Develop, manage, inspect and oversee Material Handling Equipment / Conveyor maintenance programs to ensure availability and reliability, work order completion and performance
• Maintain the planning and scheduling corrective and preventive maintenance of equipment, prioritizing and estimating work and technical assistance when developing job plans. Maintain preventative maintenance programs and schedules for all pieces of equipment. Coordinate/plan schedules for in house   repairs; Coordinate/plan schedules for outside contractor repairs
• Manage, motivate, develop and provide direct leadership to frontline maintenance staff including assigning work orders, addressing employee’s concerns and managing their productivity.
• Perform periodic inspections of recently maintained equipment so as to observe the quality of the maintenance performed and the operating condition of the equipment. Monitor repairs completed by employees for quality standards and productivity requirements
• Regularly check and inspect the material and tools inventory and place order when needed. Measure and verify parts for major jobs. Work In conjunction with the Maintenance Coordinator to ensure the tactical procurement of supplies, parts, services and equipment
• Assist with the implementation of capital projects.
• Identify and manage asset reliability risks that could adversely affect operations;
• CMMS system standardization, formatting & content development
• Support implementation of the Maintenance System - Life Cycle Asset Management program for the New Ontario Hub Project through commissioning and operations transition;
• Aid in the development of new process design to improve efficiencies, reduce waste, and lower costs;
• Provides technical support to business operations, maintenance management and technical personnel.
• Contribute to developing and maintaining a positive work environment by engaging and motivating employees
• Work in conjunction with the Maintenance Manager to provide and/or ensure effective training and development of employees
• Interview and assist with hiring decisions, performance reviews and progressive discipline; manage employee productivity
• Maintain up to date database of work orders in CMMS for status, analysis and reporting

 

Qualifications

1. Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years’ experience in a supervisory role, supervising and managing skilled trades (i.e. welders, millwrights, electricians, mechanics). Conveyor system experience in a high-volume, 24x7, high-speed package sortation environment; must have lead hand or supervisory experience managing 8 to 10 skilled trades people for 5 to 7 years.

2. Strong mechanical/electrical maintenance background & aptitude. Must have hands on experience and troubleshooting skills with a mechanical background. Experience in manufacturing facility or logistic industry is an asset.

3. Post-secondary education in Mechanical/Engineering Technician /Technologist diploma and or possess a Millwright / Mechanic / Electrician ticket / qualificationIndustrial Millwright and/or Industrial Electrician mandatory

4. Working knowledge and experienced CMMS software; proficient with general MS Office software;

5. Knowledgeable of AutoCAD, NavisWorks, or Revit

6. General health and safety knowledge (Ontario OHSA, ESA, CSA, ULC, etc.).

7. Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing in English and French

8. Excellent time management

9. Must have knowledge of safety standards for conveyor systems and Material Handling Equipment.

10. Excellent time management and organizational skills.

11. Outstanding communication, customer service, interpersonal and leadership skills.

12. Red Seal Certification would be an asset.

13. Some flexibility is required to work during weekends, stat holidays and in afternoon or night shift.

14. Proficient in some, if not all, of the following:

  • PHA - Preliminary hazards analysis
  • FMEA - Failure modes and effects analysis
  • CA - Criticality analysis
  • SFMEA - Simplified failure modes and effects analysis
  • MI - Maintainability information
  • FTA - Fault tree analysis
  • ETA - Event tree analysis
  • Data analysis techniques including: Statistical Process Control, Reliability modeling and prediction, Fault Tree Analysis, Weibull Tree Analysis or Six Sigma (6σ) Methodologies
