Job Description

The Control Systems Manager role reports to the Manager, National MHE Maintenance Excellence and is responsible to lead a team to manage, optimize and troubleshoot the efficiency and reliability of MHE control systems across the network.


  • Lead the development of a robust support system, for controls systems troubleshooting and maintenance
  • Develop process and Instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) control narratives and testing Protocols for new and existing systems
  • Work with Corporate and business unit partners to develop enterprise-wide hardware, programming and documentation strategies and standards, for controls and drives systems
  • Mentor and assist with the training of controls specialists, electricians, and engineers
  • Work with outside contractors and consultants on specifying equipment, control drives and system installs as necessary
  • Read and troubleshoot machine electrical drawings
  • Prepare and control staffing and expense budgets, for controls systems specialists
  • Organize recruiting, training and maintain qualification matrix


Technical knowledge requirements:

  • Conveyer scanning vision, and weighing controls system experience in a high-volume, 24 x 7, high speed package sortation environment
  • Technical proficiency with PLC and or pc-based controls systems
  • HMI Scada (wonder ware) configuration and design
  • Proficient with AutoCAD, NavisWorks or Revit
  • Proficient with general MS office software
  • General Health and Safety knowledge (Ontario-OHSA, ESA, CSA, ULC etc.)


Education and Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, (computer, electrical, mechanical, or industrial)
  • Certified Electrical technician (CET) certificate or.
  • Have a valid (309A or 442A electrician certification in the province of ON
  • Combined with relevant material handling systems, (e.g., conveyor 
  • PEO or OACETT registration or Red Seal an asset

Working Conditions: Office Environment; On the Road; Warehouse Environment
