Job Description



Reporting to the National Return to Work Consultant, this position plays a vital role in leading the organization to best in class performance, requiring a significant departure from the status quo. Creative and innovative thinking is required to develop best practices and modify existing procedures. This position may reside in any of the following locations: Missisauga, Etobicoke, Vaughan, Scarborough, Guelph, Ottawa, London or Barrie.


  • Provides leadership and guidance to support Operations Business Partners in the management and administration of workplace injury claims and the Early and Safe Return to Work Program, for occupational injuries/disabilities.
  • Work in close partnership and liaise with key stakeholders to ensure we have an efficient and effective claims management system that is improving Purolator's financial performance in the WSIB experience rating plan
  • Oversee reporting and tracking of all workplace injuries into the Cority System
  • Serve as point of contact for accommodation efforts in cases involving disability; ensure modified or alternate job search is conducted, suitable work identified and various avenues of return to work are explored.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure the prompt and effective preparation of individual employee return to work plans, track employee placements and monitor employee activities to assess progress and ensure compliance with return to work restrictions
  • Working collaboratively with the National RTW Consultant, using the Cority program, develop a variety of narrative and statistical reports; evaluate workers' compensation costs and trends, and report on the overall effectiveness of the RTW program
  • Actively participate in Operations meetings to provide direction for safe return to work opportunities and to troubleshoot problems
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to provide a cost/benefit analysis to determine the most proactive strategy on difficult accommodation cases.
  • Promote a culture in which injuries are preventable
  • Foster an atmosphere of collaboration and trust among all workplace parties 



  • Exemplifies and consistently demonstrates our core competencies of communication, innovation, change management, relationship building and leadership
  • Strong knowledge in and demonstrated experience in disability management, workers compensation claims management, and Return to Work experience (3 - 5 years).
  • Proven negotiation skills to influence positive outcomes
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships as a business partner.
  • Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP) or Certified Return to Work Coordinator (CRTWC) preferred.
  • University degree preferably in health care, social sciences or a related discipline
  • Valid Ontario G class driver’s license.  Travel is required within the Metro area which includes but is not limited to Etobicoke, Mississauga and Scarborough.
  • Excellent organization skills, time management skills, with the ability to manage changing priorities and demanding deadlines.
  • This position requires a strong ability to communicate professionally.
  • Energetic self-starter who is able to take initiative, work with minimum supervision.
  • Well-developed problem solving skills.
  • Experience with SAP an asset
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
