Job Description


  • Lead engineering projects relating to design and installation of new MHE (Material Handling Equipment) across Canada, with primary focus on Quebec and Atlantic provinces
  • Design, modify and validate layouts with conveyors and parcel sortation systems
  • Develop statement of requirements/work with technical drawings, cost estimates, project schedules, and controls integration requirements.
  • Develop detailed technical specifications for OEM’s, integrators and trades - Mechanical, Electrical and Controls
  • Review and Approve engineering drawings, plans, calculations, estimates and delivery schedules
  • Redline conveyor system layouts, electrical/mechanical drawings, controls logic, safety circuits and e-stop locations
  • Provide regular project updates with realistic timelines, accurate resource requirements and action plans
  • Coordinate delivery and installation schedules with operations, integrators, suppliers, maintenance and trades
  • Oversee on-site installations, systems testing and go-live commissioning (Note: site travel expenses are compensated)
  • Conduct equipment safety audits; support resolution of functional deficiencies and safety related issues; provide technical support to maintenance and the MHE team;
  • Provide relevant project information to operations, maintenance, field engineering, H&S, facilities, finance, EPMO, change management and other corporate functions
  • Update standard operating procedures, troubleshooting and preventative maintenance instructions, spare parts lists
  • Evaluate, Test & Implement new parcel sort automation technologies


  • University degree in a Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Controls Engineering or  related technical fields
  • Minimum 3-5 years of technical or project management experience, preferably with material handling (MHE) and conveying equipment
  • Strong working knowledge of industrial automation, controls and PLC’s
  • Strong project management skills; PMP certification would be an asset
  • Strong competency with AutoCAD 2D,  Solid Works, Microsoft Office and Power Point
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (English and basic French)
  • Ability to implement new ideas and introduce change; work well within team-based environment; communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Equipment safety & Ergonomics related certifications would be an asset
  • Knowledge of MHE safety related codes
    • ASME B20.1-2006 (Safety Standard for Conveyors and Related Equipment)
    • ANSI 14.3 (for Ladders and Crossover Stairs)
    • Canada Labor Code Part II (covers general H&S requirements)
    • Canadian electrical code C22.1-06
    • Standard Z432-04- “Safeguarding of Machinery”

Standard CSA-Z431-02 (R2007) “ Basic and Safety Principles for Man-Machine interface
