Description
The Class "A" Mechanic inspects, diagnoses, repairs, and/or installs parts on delivery vehicles and equipment to ensure proper function and vehicle safety.
Responsibilities
Inspect, service, and repair delivery and related vehicles to meet vehicle safety, operational, and productivity goals and standards
Conduct maintenance and repairs, order parts, document and update work orders, communicate with suppliers and operations, etc.)
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and report quality control issues (e.g., wipers not working) to determine their cause and identify if mechanical or general repairs or changes to the vehicle warranty are required
Conduct repairs, order and install parts, and inform customers of the status of repairs.
Maintain parts inventory and purchase parts required for vehicle maintenance and repairs.
Determines if parts can be rebuilt or repaired and returned to the active inventory.
Coordinate administrative requirements for preventative maintenance
Provide emergency road service when vehicles break down on route to assess if the vehicle can be repaired on site
Identifies root causes and repair options (e.g., location of repair, payment options, parts or other materials required, methods of payment, etc.)
Arrange for trucks to be picked up through third party vendors (towing companies), etc.).
Additional Responsibilities
Education
Completion of Community College of About Two Academic Years - Specialized trade or occupational courses.
Experience
Trade certification as an Automotive Service Technician (310S) to inspect, diagnose, repair, and service mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems and components for cars, buses, and trucks.
5 years of experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining automotive equipment.
Quebec requires competence card from the parity committee or 3 years of experience with a letter attesting to its competence for a vehicle fleet
G driver license.
