Description

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Sustainability the Senior Consultant, Corporate Sustainability will lead or support projects that advance Purolator’s sustainability goals, with a focus on waste diversion, sustainable sourcing, circularity and greenhouse gas emissions measurement and reporting. The role will also assist with other priority initiatives and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across disciplines to successfully implement and operationalize solutions.

Responsibilities

Key projects and responsibilities will include:  

  • Spearheading initiatives to enhance waste diversion and promote circular economy practices across Purolator’s operations
  • Assisting the Product Owner in managing and building corporate and customer greenhouse gas emissions tools  
  • Collaborating with Operations and customers on sustainable shipping solutions and product returns
  • Collaborating with teams to integrate environmental performance standards into procurement requirements, and establishing product takeback or recycling programs as necessary
  • Creating and implementing internal sustainability initiatives and engagement events
  • Handling RFP and RFI Sustainability-related requests for customers and prospects
  • Managing updates for the annual Sustainability report related to their respective initiatives
  • Researching sustainability trends, best practices, and regulatory impacts for key projects
  • Representing Purolator on industry committees and working groups related to focus projects
  • Collaborating with internal departments and external stakeholders to embed environmental sustainability in business operations and communications

 

Projects would be assigned based on the Sustainability strategy & priorities for the current year. 

Qualifications

  • 5 – 7 years of relevant experience in delivering Sustainability solutions and programs, similar to those listed above
  • University degree in Sustainability Management, Environmental Engineering/Science, Environment & Business, Circular Economy, or a related field. A Master’s degree is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with sustainability‑related IT systems, including environmental data management platforms, reporting tools, or performance‑tracking systems used to support climate, emissions, or sustainability reporting
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to analyze and synthesize complex information and make sound, evidence‑based decisions
  • Experience developing business cases and financial models to support strategic decisions
  • Proven ability to create scalable frameworks and embed standardization in national organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, connecting long‑term objectives with practical, actionable plans
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to plan, execute and deliver projects on time and within scope
  • Confidence to work independently and autonomously, self-driven
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly adaptable, able to respond comfortably to new or shifting priorities
  • Proactive self‑starter with a strong collaborative mindset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite 

Language Requirement: Proficiency in English is required for this position due to the frequent communications that must be conducted in English with various stakeholders. This requirement is justified by the nature of the responsibilities and operational needs.
